Taylor Wimpey East Midlands has helped the First Stage Dance and Theatre Academy in Derby raise £1,500 for charity.
For 2015, the dance school has chosen to support the Derbyshire branch of the Multiple Sclerosis Society UK (MS Society UK), whose headquarters are situated just next door to the school on Enterprise Way.
As part of their fundraising efforts, staff and students hosted a number of events including a Christmas party, an awards presentation and a raffle, as well as their annual showcase – with proceeds from ticket sales going towards their appeal.
In total, the First Stage Dance and Theatre Academy managed to raise more than £1,000 which we topped up to £1,500.
Loraine Campbell, principal at First Stage Dance and Theatre Academy, says: “We think it’s important to give back to the community and we were keen to support a cause that is relevant to us in some way. As our neighbours, we share a lot of facilities with the Derbyshire MS Society UK – so we are aware of their work and we felt it was a very worthy cause to raise money for.”
The MS Society UK provides information and support for people living with Multiple Sclerosis. The charity also funds research and fights to improve treatment and care to help people with the condition take control of their lives.
Louise adds: “We had a really good response to our fundraising appeal and everyone did really well. We want to say thank you to Taylor Wimpey East Midlands for their generous donation – we are very grateful for their contribution which will go towards helping people in the local community.”
This is the second time we have supported the First Stage Dance and Theatre Academy’s fundraising efforts. In 2014, we donated £500 towards the school’s appeal for Keepthebeat – a charity which offers support to families who have had a child with a congenital heart defect treated at the East Midlands Congenital Heart Centre at Glenfield in Leicester.
Mariana Knight, Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey East Midlands, says: “As a local housebuilder we are committed to supporting the local communities in which we build our new homes – which is why we were extremely keen to help with the First Stage Dance and Theatre Academy’s fundraising appeal.
“The staff, students and parents did exceptionally well to raise over £1,000 and we were delighted to be able to bump their total up to £1,500 for this very worthy cause.”
