Our team at Taylor Wimpey Southern Counties helped Amici Concerts spread the word about their concert series taking place during the Festival of Chichester.

Amici Concerts, run by musicians and friends Meg Hamilton and Amanda Cook, programmed a series of concerts taking place during the final week of the Festival of Chichester, which has just finished.

Our Southern Counties business unit donated £750 to the concert series, which was used to pay for flyers and posters advertising the events.

Meg, a local professional violinist and violist, says: “We’re really grateful to Taylor Wimpey for their support. This is only our third year and this sponsorship really helped us get off the ground and reach out to a wider audience.”

Amici Concerts was launched in 2014 after Meg performed in the first Festival of Chichester in 2013, which replaced the former Chichester Festivities.

Meg explains: “The Festivities used to attract world-class musicians to the city, and we want to continue this tradition with the Festival of Chichester.

“Amici is Latin for Friends and the Amici Concerts grew out of us wanting to invite our professional colleagues and friends to play in Chichester as part of the Festival. Our name is also appropriate because we’re a friendly series – we are trying to change the face of concert series and attract more young people and students.”

This year’s Amici Concerts comprised five evening concerts at St Pancras Church in Eastgate Square, Chichester, plus a picnic and concert on the final afternoon at Halnaker Park Cottage near Chichester. Meg performed on the opening night with her band She’Koyokh, which plays Balkan and klezmer music.

“We bring musicians performing classical music, early music, world music and jazz – there’s a really wide range of genres,” adds Meg. “Our first two series were so well received and there was a lot of enthusiasm from everyone who came, so we’re really excited at being able to continue this tradition.”

Roz Wells, Associate Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey Southern Counties, says: “As a responsible local housebuilder bringing new homes to the Chichester area, we were delighted to support the Amici Concerts as part of the Festival of Chichester.

“We hope our support helped to attract even more people to discover the music that Meg and Amanda brought to the city.”

We’re currently building high-quality new homes at Hawthorne Meadow in Hambrook and Acorn Grove in Fishbourne.
