Our East London team has given further support to a charity that helps children with additional needs and their families by making a donation for the third year in a row.
Together Families CAN was set up in June 2016 with the aim of improving the lives of youngsters with a variety of physical and developmental needs, across Essex and Suffolk. Our East London region was quick to offer a helping hand that year with a donation and, after pledging further funding in 2017, has this year agreed to give £500 to the charity - taking the total donation over three years to £1,800.
Richard Stewart, Chair of Trustees and Together Families CAN founder, said: “We’ve been up and running for three years now but we are still a relatively small charity, and we rely on donations from the public and from companies such as Taylor Wimpey in order to carry out our work. The East London office has supported us from the very beginning and we are delighted that they have chosen to help once again.
“Raising a child with additional needs can be challenging for many reasons, from medical conditions to social and communication issues. With donations like this we can offer support tailored to the individual needs of the child and their family. We would like to thank Taylor Wimpey East London for their continuing assistance.”
Together Families CAN provides funding for specialist equipment or resources – such as household appliances, garden equipment, car seats and iPads – for families with children who have special educational needs and disabilities. The charity also offers family days out that bring smiles to children’s faces.
Together Families CAN currently has five trustees, including Richard, and invites applications for assistance from families living in Essex and Suffolk.
Michael O’Leary, Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey East London, said: “We have worked with Together Families CAN for three years now, and have seen the great work they do across our region. It was our pleasure to offer support again this year. We look forward to seeing them grow and help even more children and their families in the coming months.”
