Our South Wales regional business donated £500 to Macmillan Cancer Support following a charity prize draw at a celebratory event at our Parc y Strade development in Llanelli.
Local dignitaries joined Taylor Wimpey staff on Thursday 3rd July to celebrate the history of Stradey Park – and the winner of the special raffle was Cllr George Edwards, who represents Hengoed for Carmarthenshire County Council.
Parc y Strade is located on the site formerly occupied by Llanelli Scarlets’ and Llanelli Rugby Football Club’s Stradey Park ground before the clubs moved to a new state-of-the-art stadium in 2008.
Cllr Edwards chose Macmillan Cancer Support as the beneficiary of the prize, explaining: “I recently lost a good friend to cancer and when I was asked to name a charity it was the first thing that came to my mind.
“As a councillor I see the benefits the Macmillan nurses bring to the community. They give such an unbelievably high calibre of support to patients during their last days and their families. The service relies on voluntary contributions to keep going and deserves our support.
“I’d like to thank Taylor Wimpey for donating this money to the charity of my choice. It’s a very nice gesture which is much appreciated.”
Sara Taylor, Regional Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey, says: “We were delighted to donate £500 to Macmillan Cancer Support, which does such fantastic work in the local community, and would like to thank Cllr Edwards for nominating such a worthy cause.
“As a local house builder, we are committed to supporting the communities in which we build, and this is a great example of the way we can support local charities and organisations.”
