We supported a Festival of Rugby event which was held at Eastleigh Rugby Club to celebrate the arrival of the Rugby World Cup Trophy Tour.
The Webb Ellis Cup visited The Hub in Bishopstoke Road, Eastleigh, as part of its 100-day tour of the British Isles in the build-up to the Rugby World Cup opening ceremony which took place at Twickenham on Friday 18th September.
To celebrate the event, Eastleigh Rugby Club organised a Festival of Rugby, including an adult World Cup themed Touch Rugby tournament and a junior ‘pitch up and play’ competition.
Our Southern Counties team, which is building new homes in Eastleigh at Bakers Quarter and The Sidings, funded a replica World Cup trophy for the team who won the tournament, along with a runners-up trophy and wooden spoon prize.
Event organiser Will Todd says: “It was a brilliant day, with the whole community coming together to see the Webb Ellis Trophy as well as celebrating the game with a day of rugby, music and entertainment.
“We’d like to thank Taylor Wimpey for their generous sponsorship, which meant that we could present the festival winners with a special replica World Cup trophy – it was just perfect for the occasion.”
Fiona Creed, Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey Southern Counties, says: “We were delighted to help Eastleigh Rugby Club welcome the Webb Ellis Trophy to its home in Bishopstoke Road.
“Sports clubs and other local organisations play an important role in making Eastleigh a great place to live, and as a local housebuilder, we are committed to supporting the communities in which we build our new homes, so we were only too happy to be part of making the Festival of Rugby a big success.”
There’s a selection of new homes currently on sale at The Sidings, including two-bedroom apartments and four-bedroom houses, while three-bedroom houses are now available at Bakers Quarter.
