A Hampshire church is celebrating a milestone anniversary in style, with a little help from our South Thames and West London teams, as they have joined together to donate £250 to Christ Church in Crookham.
The church, which was built in 1841, is celebrating its 175th anniversary with a series of events, including a flower festival and history exhibition over the August Bank Holiday weekend – the nearest weekend to the church’s consecration date.
Our donation will pay for flowers for the window decoration, which will be on display on Sunday 28th August when the Bishop of Guildford, the Rt Rev Andrew Watson, visits to lead the Dedication Service.
The Rev Roland Olliff, vicar at Christ Church, Crookham, says: “Taylor Wimpey’s kind donation will go towards the window decoration for the Flower Festival and Dedication Service, which is one of the key events of our anniversary celebrations.
“This support makes a very real difference to us, as part of our mission is to grow as a church into the community. Taylor Wimpey are doing a great deal of work locally in Church Crookham and this develops our links with them.”
The church’s celebrations started in June with the parish fete and will go on until October, including family fun days, a range of musical performances, an art festival, a family walk, a barn dance, a radio show and a fashion show – so there’s something for everyone.
Susan Joseph, Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey South Thames, which is building new homes at Oaklands at Crookham Park, says: “We’re delighted to make this donation to Christ Church, Crookham, to help celebrate this special anniversary. As a responsible developer, we are committed to supporting the local community, so our support for the church is a great example of the ways we can help local organisations.”
Emma Jones, Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey West London, adds: “Christ Church, Crookham, plays an important role within the local area so we are thrilled to be helping to provide the floral decorations for the forthcoming festivities. We hope they’re a great success.”
