Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People in Loughborough has received a cash donation worth thousands of pounds, following a successful fundraising event organised by our team at Taylor Wimpey East Midlands.
In December 2015 staff hosted the annual Site Manager Supper, which is organised by our production department to raise money for various charities.
The event, which took place at Hilton East Midlands Airport, raised an amazing £2,123 for Rainbows Hospice, as well as a generous £1,402 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
David Beeston, Production Director for Taylor Wimpey East Midlands, has been the driving force behind the fundraiser, which this year was attended by 140 guests from our commercial and production teams, as well as site managers and sub-contractors.
Anna Arveschoug, personal assistant to David, says: “Our annual Site Managers Supper is a great charity event that raises money with a raffle, which this year featured 23 prizes ranging from bottles of wine to a camera, a Kindle and a supercar experience, all of which were kindly donated by our sub-contractors.
“This year it was my idea to donate the money to Rainbows Hospice, after I attended a presentation which really opened my eyes to the fantastic work they do.
“We’ve also raised money for Macmillan Cancer Support in the past by hosting coffee mornings, so it was great to be able to offer them our support again.”
Rainbows Hospice cares for children and young people in the East Midlands who are affected by life-limiting and life-threatening conditions.
“One of the other raffle prizes was a big JCB digger toy for children,” continues Anna. “This was purchased in the raffle for £600, and both the money and the prize were donated to Rainbows Hospice.”
Staff from our East Midlands business unit, along with representatives from our sub-contractor Bridgebank Ltd, visited the hospice in December to present the cheque.
Anna adds: “The hospice is really pleased with the donation from Taylor Wimpey – it’s more than they were ever expecting.
“We’d like to say thank you to Tom Ryan, director of Bridgebank Ltd, for supporting our event.”
