NEWS- Normanton Common pupils recieve health and safety talk from Taylor Wimpey

Children at Normanton Common Primary Academy were given an important health and safety lesson by our Yorkshire team, who taught a lesson in construction site safety earlier this month.

Normanton Common Primary Academy, located close to the Clover View development, is one of many schools across Yorkshire to benefit from our school safety presentation.

Keith Chester, site administrator at Taylor Wimpey Yorkshire, said “Our Clover View development is not far from the school so it is important to help teachers and young children in the area to understand, assess and eliminate potential risks associated with the construction process.

“We presented a 45-minute talk to the pupils that includes a short film about the dangers encountered when three children find themselves on a construction site. We also highlighted the importance of safety within the home, such as in the garage and household chemicals.”

The classroom presentation is aimed at children between the ages of seven and 11. Pupils were given an opportunity to dress up in personal protection equipment and learned some of the practical ways contractors stay safe on a building site.

Keith added: “It is great to see how dedicated the school’s teachers and staff are to the health and safety of their pupils and, as a homebuilder that cares, we at Taylor Wimpey Yorkshire were only too happy to help them out."
