As part of its ongoing commitment to working in partnership with local communities, our South Midlands region has provided £10,000 to Whaddon C of E First School to cover the cost of a much needed path to connect the playground and main school building to an outdoor classroom. The new path will allow children and staff to safely travel between the buildings without having to walk over wet, muddy grass or disturb pupils in other classrooms, and also provides wheelchair access to all areas of the school.
Commenting on the support it has received from Taylor Wimpey, Selina Davies, Headteacher at Whaddon C of E First School said: “We are very grateful to Taylor Wimey for their generous donation. We are committed to outdoor learning and the new path allows much easier and safer access to our new classroom. Previously, during wet weather, pupils and staff would slip on the grass on the way to and from the outdoor building so the path has made a real difference to the whole school community. Everyone is delighted with the improvement to our school.”
Gareth Jacob, Managing Director at Taylor Wimpey South Midlands said: “We were really happy to be able to support Whaddon C of E First School with funding to pay for the much needed path. The work we do is a lot more than just building high-quality homes. We are committed to giving back to the communities in which we build our new homes and it means a great deal to us that our donation has been put to such good use. We are pleased to hear that the new path will benefit both the pupils and staff at Whaddon C of E First School.”
