Young footballers in Longwell Green in Gloucestershire have received a major boost after netting a sponsorship deal with us.
Our Bristol team – which is currently building high-quality new homes at Lyde Green in nearby Emersons Green – pledged £500 to fund brand new kit for the U14s team at Longwell Green Sports Junior FC.
The team, who play in the third division of the Avon Youth League, received new shirts, shorts and socks thanks to our sponsorship deal. Each kit is adorned in the club’s customary sky blue and white stripes with the Taylor Wimpey logo on the front of the shirts.
Glyn Davis, Avon Youth League Fixture Secretary at Longwell Green Sports Junior FC, says: “Every year it’s getting harder and harder to find sponsors so Taylor Wimpey’s £500 donation is such a kind offer. The money was enough to cover the cost of 16 new full kits for the squad, which is great.
“Taylor Wimpey is a good name to have behind our club – everyone has heard of the company so when they see the logo on our shirts it gets people talking about our team.”
Longwell Green Sports FC was founded in June 1966 following the great upsurge of interest in football following England’s World Cup success. The club is based at the Longwell Green Community Centre off Shellards Road, where the U14s team play every Sunday.
“Last season was a difficult one for the U14s and unfortunately we were relegated from the second division” explains Glyn.
“The lads have been quite down about the outcome but having the new kit and Taylor Wimpey’s support will definitely make a difference. The boys will feel more confident as they walk out on to the pitch.
“We keep the kits for two years and once those two years are up, we send all of our old shirts and shorts to young footballers in third world countries – so Taylor Wimpey’s donation really will go a long way.
“Receiving sponsorship makes it a lot easier for us so we want to say thank you very much. We understand it can be hard for companies to find that sort of money so we really do appreciate Taylor Wimpey’s help.”
Charlie Joseph, Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey Bristol, says: “We are thrilled to be able to offer our support to the U14s team at Longwell Green Sports Junior FC.
“We hope the boys love their brand new kits and we wish them the very best for the upcoming season ahead.”
