Our Yorkshire business unit has provided Mexborough Academy with a cash boost towards the schools’ participation in the recent country-wide Rock Challenge event, for a second year.
Our £500 donation went towards enhancing the students’ costumes and set designs, as well as funding the team’s transport to the competition venue.
The event, which celebrated its 20th anniversary this year, invited performing arts students across the country between the ages of 11 and 18 to create an eight-minute dance routine that showcases their personality and inner performer.
Nichola Taberner, of Mexborough Academy, says: “Many of our students have a passion for dancing, but have never performed on a professional stage or been given the opportunity to compete in national competitions, so Rock Challenge provides them with a fantastic platform to showcase their talents.
“Year on year our students take to the stage and dance their hearts out, but without the support of businesses like Taylor Wimpey, we simply couldn’t afford to participate. The donation really does make a difference.”
Anne Bagshaw, Sales and Marketing Director at Taylor Wimpey Yorkshire, adds: “Supporting local schools and organisations near to our developments is extremely important for us, so when we heard Mexborough Academy were looking for support, we were more than happy to help.
“We’re delighted to have contributed towards the young performers taking part in such an exciting and inspirational competition. With The Wickets development close by, we are sure we will see many of our residents taking centre stage for years to come!”
Nichola concludes: “The Rock Challenge really does open doors for our students and increases their confidence and enthusiasm for healthy, fun activities. On behalf of the students and teachers at Mexborough Academy, I would like to say a massive thank you to Taylor Wimpey for their continued support.”
There’s a choice of three, four and five-bedroom homes currently available at The Wickets.
