Millie Mortar puts in the miles for charity

Running 8.5 miles in temperatures rising above 70F is one thing – but dressed in a thick and heavy mascot suit is quite another!

That was the challenge for our North Midlands Sales Manager Angie Prince, who took part in the Great Midlands Fun Run through the sweltering streets of Sutton Coldfield on Sunday 5th June dressed as our Taylor Wimpey mascot Millie Mortar.

Along with over 6,000 other participants, she completed the run along with her daughter Charlotte and, more importantly, raised nearly £500 for Birmingham Children’s Hospital in the process.

Angie says: “I’m really proud to have completed the run and raised such a great total for this worthwhile local charity, which provides such amazing care for so many children and young people.

“I have to admit it was a big relief to take off the suit at the end, as it was incredibly hot in there, but huge thanks to everyone who sponsored me and cheered me on during the event – it made it all worthwhile!”

Sunday’s event was the 14th Great Midlands Fun Run, which has seen over £2.5 million distributed to good causes since the first event in 2003.

Birmingham Children’s Hospital is a leading UK specialist paediatric centre, offering expert care to 90,000 children and young people from across the country every year, as well as supporting their loved ones and advancing medical innovation.

Angie chose this charity as her daughter has received care from the hospital in the past.
