The brand new cycle path that runs near our Etling View development in Dereham, Norfolk, is now open for use by the public.
The shared use pedestrian and cycle route was completed and officially signed off with Norfolk County Council in December 2015 and Cllr William Richmond, Norfolk County Councillor for Dereham North, visited our Etling View development to take part in a ribbon cutting to officially declare this new facility as open.
The new path runs along Norwich Road from the entrance of Neatherd High School to the site of the town’s planned new cemetery, which is due to be ready for use in 2016.
Cllr William Richmond, Norfolk County Councillor for Dereham North, says: “This new cycleway is a fantastic amenity for the local community in Dereham.
“Having this provision will hopefully help to promote healthier lifestyles and reduce the number of vehicles on the road by offering an alternative way of safely getting into and around the town.
“I’d like to say a huge thank you to Taylor Wimpey and also to Bateman Groundworks Ltd for all of their hard work during 2015 in bringing this new route to fruition.”
Caroline Carter, Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey East Anglia, says: “We feel it’s extremely important to invest in the communities where we build our new homes, so wherever possible we work closely and effectively with local authorities to improve services and develop new facilities like this that help provide a great place for everyone to live.”
As part of the planning agreement for our Etling View development, we are also making financial contributions to the local area that will benefit the wider community in Dereham.
These include payments totalling £339,669 towards improving education in the local area, as well as £12,000 to support the local library and £100,000 towards open space maintenance in the town.
There’s a superb range of two and three-bedroom homes currently available at Etling View.
