We’re excited to be involved in the project to rebuild the iconic Fry Club at our Somerdale development in Keynsham.

Bridgwater construction firm Pollards has now finished erecting the bulk of the steelwork forming the main structure of the new Fry Club building, which will include changing rooms, five flexible function rooms, a large sports bar with a skittle alley and a multi-activity room for the various groups that will use us as a base.

Sports facilities will include 13 full-size football pitches – one of which will be an FA-standard floodlit pitch – plus two junior pitches, four cricket pitches and a nine-hole golf course, while the existing bowling green and tennis courts are being retained.

Kevin Thatcher, Chairman of the Fry Club, says: “It is exciting to see the new building taking shape with the steelwork now in place, providing such a visual impact, but I’m expecting it to be a more gradual process from now on. There are lots of contractors involved – bricklayers, electricians, plasterers and so on – and there’s still a lot to be done.

“Everything is on track and we’re expecting to be able to start moving things in by the end of April next year. We’re hoping the new main football pitch will be ready at more or less the same time.”
