We are investing over £778,000 in local community facilities as part of a major new homes development which is taking shape in Worcester.
Our Diglis Water development is delivering 451 new homes together with retail and commercial units, recreation space and public infrastructure, including a Waterfront Park, a health and fitness centre, mooring opportunities and a new relief road.
We are making financial contributions for the local area totalling £778,640, including £183,900 for education, £381,430 for highways and transport, £163,310 for recreation, play areas and open space, and £50,000 in additional community contributions which will benefit local people.
In addition, a selection of the new homes at Diglis Water are designated as affordable housing.
On top of these contributions, the development will bring additional investment to the local community through the New Homes Bonus initiative. Under this scheme, the Government match-funds the council tax raised from the building of each of the development’s 451 new homes, with the money provided directly to the local authority.
Anne Wallace, Regional Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey, says: “Every single new home we build at Taylor Wimpey is part of a community, and we are committed to ensuring this exciting new development in Worcester offers much more than just high-quality properties for local people.
“Our investment of over £778,000 will help to improve educational, highways and transport and recreational facilities for the benefit of the whole Worcester community, ensuring that this sustainable new homes development will both complement and enhance the surrounding area, while also delivering much-needed affordable housing.”
