Our West Scotland team are delighted to announce the winners of their Community Chest initiative in association with the Helensburgh Community Advertiser.
Readers of the Community Advertiser nominated their worthy causes from the local area to win a share of £1,000. The voting was tied for first place and joint awards of £400 each have been made to Grey Matters and Helensburgh and Lomond Autism. The remaining £200 is awarded to Visiting Friends SCIO.
Each of the groups will use their cash boost from Taylor Wimpey to carry on their vital work and support in the local area.
On receiving the cash award, Laura Hogg from Helensburgh & Lomond Autism said: “We are overwhelmed with gratitude to be selected by our local community as joint winners. We are already thinking of ways we can put the funds to great use, such as fun holiday activities. We really do appreciate this.”
Alison Gildea who organises Grey Matters said: “The group are delighted! Thank you so much. Grey Matters is about giving older people a voice in their community, but it’s also about tackling loneliness and isolation in older people. The group doesn’t take a break and operates all year round, including holiday times when people are often more isolated. The money from the Community Chest will fund festive activities so people have something to look forward to over the Christmas and New Year period”
Visiting Friends representatives Jayne Burnett and Ian Davis said: “Thank you! Visiting Friends is thrilled to receive this money, because it will ensure that we can continue to make a difference to the lives of lonely and socially isolated, elderly people in our community. It will be used to fund social activities for our clients and volunteers, which will become especially important as we approach autumn and winter.”
Audrey Ross, Sales and Marketing Director adds: “Our Community Chest project is a great way to recognise the unsung heroes that are found in the local communities where we build new homes.
“It makes our team incredibly proud to have the opportunity to make this type of donation that goes right to the heart of making a difference locally. We’re thrilled for each of the these local deserving causes, and thank you to everyone who took the opportunity to take part.”
