Outdoor classroom gets a facelift thanks to donation
Young children at a South Northamptonshire pre-school will be getting more from their ‘outdoor classroom’ – thanks to us.
Our South Midlands team, which is building new homes at our Chestnut Grove development in Brackley, has given £370 to Helmdon Acorns Pre-School to buy a new shed for the pre-school’s garden.
Liz Hart, who runs the pre-school, which is in Helmdon, a village north of Brackley, says: “I know a shed sounds a bit boring, but it’s very important for the pre-school.
“We use our garden like an outdoor classroom. The children learn about plants and fruit and vegetables of course, but also maths, by measuring sunflowers for example, and writing, because all the plants have labels.”
The garden was tidied up by staff and parents during the Easter holidays, but the garden’s ancient, leaky shed was beyond repair.
“The shed is needed for all our gardening equipment, children’s bikes and garden toys, and the old one was showing serious signs of decay,” explains Liz.
“The children, the staff and the parents would all like to thank Taylor Wimpey for this generous donation.”
Gareth Jacob, Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey South Midlands, says: “We’re delighted to support Helmdon Acorns Pre-School with their outdoor learning.
“We are committed to making a positive contribution to the communities in which we build. We hope the children really enjoy their improved garden!”
There’s a superb selection of three and five bedroom homes currently available at Chestnut Grove.
