We are delighted to announce that our upcoming Royds Lane development in Rothwell, West Yorkshire, has been named Rodewelle Green, following a naming competition held with children at Rothwell St Marys Primary School.
The competition enabled pupils to enter name suggestions for the new development, with the winning entry coming from seven-year-old Polly Taylor, who received a hamper full of books, sweets and vouchers at a presentation assembly.
In addition to running the competition at Rothwell St Marys, we also supported the school with a donation towards a brand-new prayer garden.
Helen MacPherson, school business manager at Rothwell St Marys, says: “Given that Rodewelle Green is so close to the school which serves the area’s future generations, we’re absolutely thrilled that Taylor Wimpey allowed our pupils to have an input into the new development while also having lots of fun.
“Polly is delighted to have won the competition and she can’t believe her entry was picked. It was brilliant to have Taylor Wimpey staff award a prize to Polly amongst her friends, parents and teachers at the presentation assembly and everyone was extremely proud.
“We’re incredibly grateful to receive Taylor Wimpey’s generous donation which will be used to fund a stunning new garden area, enabling the pupils to reflect and relax in the open air during lunchtime.”
Anne Bagshaw, sales and marketing director at Taylor Wimpey Yorkshire, says: “It’s fantastic to give local school children the opportunity to get involved with the new community development.
“We’re so pleased with Polly’s winning entry, which links back to Rothwell’s roots and historical name and we look forward to the launch of the development.”
