SW Netball Sponsorship at Gwaunmesisgyn School web

A primary school sports team in Beddau, South Wales, is celebrating after netting much-needed sponsorship from us.

The U11 netball players, from Gwaunmeisgyn Primary School, in Woodland Road – just a short distance from our Dan y Bryn Gaer development in Gwaun Miskin – will be wearing new kit thanks to our donation.

The sponsorship follows our recent donation towards kit for the school’s U11 rugby team.

The school has a strong sporting tradition, with former pupils including netball player Lateisha Kidner, who has gone on to represent Wales, playing for the Welsh U21 team in the 2013 World Youth Netball Championships in Glasgow.

School headteacher David Thomas says: “The area has a strong sporting tradition not only in rugby but also in other areas such as football, netball and athletics.

“We haven’t had as many netball games as we would have liked over the past few years, one of the reasons being we have struggled to find enough kit. The new netball kit will enable us to play more fixtures and make the girls proud to represent Gwaunmeisgyn Primary School.”

The new netball kit comprises 10 shirts and 10 skirts in the school colours, royal blue and yellow.

Sara Taylor, Regional Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey, says: “We’re delighted to sponsor Gwaunmeisgyn Primary School’s netball team and hope their new kit will make them even more proud to represent their school.

“Every home we build is part of a community and our partnership with the school is part of our commitment to support groups and organisations in the local area as our development at Dan y Bryn Gaer takes shape.”
