Children at a primary school in Plymouth are jumping for joy after we gave them a helping hand to buy two pet rabbits!
Montpelier Primary School – which is close to our Cherry Tree Gardens development – received £250 to help pay for the rabbits and all the necessary supplies.
Alison Davies, Chairperson of the Parents, Teachers and Friends Association at Montpelier Primary School, says: “Because we are an inner city school there’s a lot of children who do not get the chance to have a pet at home.
“We’ve had chickens at the school for about a year and a half now and the children absolutely love looking after them so we decided to get some rabbits.
“Pupils will get the chance to go and spend time with the rabbits as a reward for good behaviour. Children with additional needs will hopefully benefit from looking after them too as it will give them the opportunity to enjoy some peace and quiet.”
The donation has paid for one male dwarf rabbit and one female lionhead, plus a shed for them to live in, an outdoor run, a water bowl, a bottle and some hay. Both rabbits are rescue animals from the nearby Woodside Sanctuary in Plympton.
Alison adds: “There’s a real buzz in the air about our new pets and we just want to thank Taylor Wimpey ever so much. It’s such a generous donation and we believe the pupils will really benefit from having the rabbits.”
Janine Copleston, Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey Exeter, adds: “As a local housebuilder we are committed to supporting the communities in which we build and our donation to Montpelier Primary School is a great example of how we can help.
“We are thrilled to hear how excited the pupils are about the arrival of the rabbits and we hope they will enjoy looking after their new pets.”
There’s a superb selection of two, three and four-bedroom homes currently available to reserve at Cherry Tree Gardens.
