A photography competition inviting Telford people to capture stunning snapshots of life at Lawley Village is being relaunched this summer following the tremendous success of the initiative last year.
The second ‘Loving Life in Lawley’ contest gives enthusiastic snappers of all ages the chance to submit eye-catching photography that perfectly reflects the neighbourly atmosphere, the appealing architecture or the wonderful scenery in and around this thriving new community.
Individual prizes worth up to £500 are on offer to the winners and runners-up in various age categories of the competition, which is being run by the Lawley Village Developer Group (LVDG), a consortium of housebuilders comprising Barratt Homes, Charles Church, David Wilson Homes, Persimmon Homes and Taylor Wimpey.
Guy Scott, Director for LVDG, says: “Our first Loving Life in Lawley contest was a fantastic success last summer, with some really impressive photography encapsulating the essence of what makes life in this fast-growing community so special and entries received from a wide variety of age groups.
“We’re delighted to announce the return of the competition in 2014 and look forward to receiving more wonderful images celebrating the people, the lifestyles and the landscapes of Lawley Village.
“You don’t have to be an experienced photographer to take part – you just need a keen eye, a camera and a bit of enthusiasm. There are some fabulous prizes up for grabs so I’d urge local people to get out there and show us what they can do!”
Three separate age categories will give primary school children, young people and adults an opportunity to take on their peers in the Loving Life in Lawley competition – with the top two photographers in each category receiving a prize.
To enter the competition, participants can submit up to three photographs that focus on the architecture, the local facilities, residents, the lifestyles or the landscapes at Lawley Village.
The deadline for entries is 5th October 2014 and the competition is open to three age groups: 11 years and under, with the winner receiving a £100 gift voucher and the runner-up a £50 gift voucher; 12 to 18 years, with the winner receiving a £100 gift voucher and the runner-up a £50 gift voucher; and adults, with the winner receiving a £500 cheque and the runner-up a £100 cheque.
Each entry should be accompanied by a description of what it is, when it was taken and why it was chosen. Photographs should be submitted with contact details in files titled with the entrants name and age and sized no bigger than 2MB to firstname.lastname@example.org.
