Pupils enjoy a surprise Santa visit at Kings Acre

Date: Thursday 11 December 2014

Pupils from a primary school near Mansfield got the chance to explore our Kings Acre development in Clipstone, Nottinghamshire – where Santa Claus paid a special visit to meet the children!

A group of 12 youngsters aged between six and 11 years old from the Samuel Barlow Primary School in the village visited the development where they learned about the process of housebuilding from Site Manager Mark Jefferson.

The children, who are all members of the elected school council, were then taken for a tour around a showhome – where they were surprised by a secret festive visit from Santa Claus and one of his elves, who came bearing gifts for the pupils.

Tracey Harris, office manager and council co-ordinator at the school, says: “It’s always nice to make connections with local businesses, and we really had a fantastic afternoon visiting this Taylor Wimpey site which is so near to our school.

“The children definitely learned a lot – all of them were very inquisitive as to what was happening at the development, taking a big interest in the diggers and understanding the whole process of building a home. Each of them asked lots of questions, and when the tour had finished, they couldn’t wait to tell the rest of their classes about it.

“The pupils had no idea about the surprise visit from Santa – they were shown into the showhome, and when we went into the lounge, there he was, ‘ho ho ho-ing’ on the sofa!

“He handed each of them a small gift, and it was such a wonderful thing to happen – especially for the younger children, who were really excited to have met Santa. It’s always great for children to enjoy visual learning, and we’re very grateful to the staff at Taylor Wimpey for putting on such a fun-filled and interesting trip for us.”

Taylor Wimpey East Midlands previously donated £250 towards new books for the school’s library to celebrate the 17th annual World Book Day in 2014.

Mariana Knight, Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey East Midlands, says: “As a local housebuilder, we are committed to supporting the communities in which we build our high-quality new homes, so we were only too pleased to welcome pupils from Samuel Barlow Primary School to visit our Kings Acre development.

“We were more than happy to work with the school again since World Book Day, and are delighted that the children got to learn about housebuilding on the site – and I hope they enjoyed their special visit from Santa himself, too!”

There’s a fantastic range of two, three and four-bedroom homes currently available at Kings Acre.
