EX - Falmouth - School Naming Competition

Schoolchildren in Cornwall have been given the honour of naming our new development of homes in Falmouth.

The youngsters at St Francis C of E Primary School in the town were asked to put forward name ideas for our new development, which will be located at Lower Kergilliack Farm off Bickland Hill.

The winning suggestion of ‘Chi an Mor’ – which means house by the sea – came from Year 6 pupil Matthew aged 10.

Miss Gowing, Year 6 teacher at St Francis C of E Primary School, says: “It’s wonderful to have a name chosen by one of the children. It will be something for him and everyone at the school to remember forever.”

We gave the school a £50 book token as a thank you for taking part in the competition, and Matthew was presented with his very own £20 token for coming up with the winning suggestion.

Clare Brimble, Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey Exeter, says: “The children at St Francis C of E Primary School came up with some great ideas for what we should call our new development in the town and we were delighted with Matthew’s suggestion of Chi an Mor – it works perfectly as the new homes will only be a short drive from the sea!

“We’d like to say a huge thank you to the pupils and the staff at the school for their hard work and creativity – they’d clearly given it a lot of thought and they should all be very proud of their suggestions.”
