A charity coffee morning was hosted by residents of our Briars Chase development in Ilkeston, Derbyshire, to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
The event, which took place on Friday 26th September, was organised by Gill Berwick who lives at the development with her husband Paul and daughter Charlie.
Gill says: “I wanted to organise an event to raise money for Macmillan and thought a coffee morning sounded like something I could definitely put together!
“I mentioned the idea to the Taylor Wimpey staff in the Sales Centre and they kindly said I could host the coffee morning in their office.”
With a little help from her friends and family, Gill donned her apron, put on the kettle and baked cakes to help raise as much money as possible for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Gill says: “Everyone knows someone who has been affected by cancer – both my dad and my husband’s dad died from the disease so I wanted to raise as much as I could for Macmillan because it’s a very worthy cause.”
There was a choice of cupcakes and other tasty treats on offer on the day and Gill also hosted fun-filled games to help add to the donation total.
All funds raised from the event went to Macmillan Cancer Support – a national charity that supports patients, families, carers and communities who are affected by cancer.
We’re currently building new homes at our Briars Chase development in Heanor Road, Ilkeston, Derbyshire.
