A youth team at Rochford Hundred Rugby Club have made the perfect preparation for next season by securing a shirt sponsorship deal with our East London business unit.
We recently sponsored the U12s team to the tune of £1,080, which paid for 30 new shirts displaying our logo for all the squad’s players to wear during the 2016/17 season.
The team will be stepping up from the ‘mini’ to the ‘junior’ section at the club next season, where at U13s level they will be playing against sides from across Essex and others based in bordering counties.
Gary Barber, Youth Chairman at the club and Head Coach of the team, believes sealing this sponsorship deal will do wonders for the players’ confidence. “If you provide young players with a decent new kit to walk out in with a sponsor’s logo, it makes them feel a lot better,” he says.
“As players they feel a great sense of pride and it makes them feel like they’re achieving things, which is important. We have a particularly good team at this age group at the moment – we’re one of the top sides in the county so next season is going to be very important as we look to develop the youngsters’ skills.”
The team play their home games at The Rugby Park, off Magnolia Road, Hawkwell – the ground of Rochford Hundred Rugby Club, which was formed in 1962 and has become an established part of the local community.
“We’re a family-orientated club with strong local links,” adds Gary. “I’ve been coaching some of the lads in my current U12s squad since they were in the Rochford U6s team, and most of the others for a good three or four years. Ten of the squad go to the same school, so there’s great unity there.
“It’s fantastic that a big organisation like Taylor Wimpey has given us this sponsorship money and we’re very grateful.”
Michael O’Leary, Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey East London, says: “As a responsible local housebuilder, we recognise that grassroots sport is a major part of any community so we are more than happy to sponsor the Rochford Hundred Rugby Club U13s team for next season.
“We hope the players enjoy wearing their new kit and wish the club every success for the future.”
There’s currently a wonderful selection of one, three and four-bedroom homes available at our nearby Wyborne Park.
