Rugby players from a primary school in Rhondda are set to tackle their matches in style after sealing a sponsorship deal with us.
The U11 players, from Gwaunmeisgyn Primary School, in Beddau – just a short distance from our Dan y Bryn Gaer development in Gwaun Miskin – will be sporting new kit thanks to a our donation.
The school has a strong rugby tradition, with former pupils including Ellis Jenkins, who led the Wales Under-20s to the runners-up spot in the Junior World Championships in France in 2013, and Hemi Barnes, who’s recently been called up to the Wales U18s squad.
The U11s play against other local schools and in Cardiff Blues competitions, including tag rugby tournaments.
School headteacher David Thomas says: “The sponsorship from Taylor Wimpey is fantastic. Our school rugby team has produced some top players over the past few years but our kit has taken a hammering and desperately needed replacing.
“Taylor Wimpey has stepped in and offered us a full set of kit, comprising 17 shirts, shorts and socks in the school colours, and in the latest design. The players will feel that bit taller and feel that much prouder to represent their school when they’re in their new kit.
“We’re very grateful to Taylor Wimpey for their help and hope that this will be the start of a long and fruitful partnership.”
Sara Taylor, Regional Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey, says: “As a local housebuilder we are committed to supporting the local communities in which we build our new homes and our sponsorship of Gwaunmeisgyn Primary School’s rugby team is a great example of how we can help local groups and organisations.
“Rugby has an important role to play in fostering community spirit locally and we look forward to continuing our association with the school. We wish them every success for this season and in the future.”
