A team of budding young artists are celebrating after winning hundreds of pounds in a local design competition.
The youngsters from Ysgol Penrhyn New Broughton School scooped the valuable prizes after coming top in a contest organised by Taylor Wimpey Manchester.
The children were asked to design their ‘ideal home’ by staff at the national housebuilder’s Mountain View development, in Wrexham.
Pupils aged between nine and 11 were asked to create an original image using pens, paints or a computer.
After an overwhelming response, sales staff at the Tanyfron Road development chose ten finalists whose work will be displayed in their office this month.
Chelsea Jones’s picture was the one that impressed them most. As well as the satisfaction of winning, the 11-year-old was given £250 for her school and a £30 book voucher.
Nathania Roberts, aged nine, was in second place. Her picture won her £150 for the school and a £20 book voucher for herself.
As Anthony Mansfield, sales and marketing director for Taylor Wimpey Manchester, explains: “We were amazed by the fantastic response the competition attracted – and very impressed by the extremely high quality of all the entries.
“The sales team faced a difficult task when it came to choosing a winner but we felt that Chelsea and Nathania’s pictures really stood out as being special.
“The development itself is just as impressive – and we’re confident it will become an ‘ideal home’ for lots of local families.”
Situated in the heart of the stunning Welsh countryside and close to picturesque Brymbo village, Mountain View is a truly spectacular place to live.
