A former member of the British Army has been given a helping hand in his quest for a new career on civvy street by Taylor Wimpey.

Scott Yarrington gained valuable experience of property sales during a work placement at our Jubilee Gardens development in Walsall, West Midlands.

His placement was arranged through Recovery Career Services, which helps former servicemen and women to get back into work once they have left the Armed Forces.

Scott (28), who lives in Bloxwich, close to the development, spent one day a week working with our staff for two months, shadowing them during their meetings with property-seekers.

His tasks ranged from assisting potential buyers who were visiting Jubilee Gardens for the first time to helping buyers who had reserved their home through the process of choosing the interior Options for their new property.

Scott says: “It was a really good experience. We had a variety of buyers who chose all sorts of different new homes.

“Seeing all the various parts of the job was very interesting and I got the chance to meet a lot of people, including housebuyers, builders and senior Taylor Wimpey staff.”

Scott has since completed a course in property management and is set to begin buying homes to let.

Anne Wallace, Regional Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey, says: “I’m really pleased Scott received plenty of helpful insights and experience through his work placement at Jubilee Gardens.

“We’re happy to offer placements like this as they enable people to attain valuable vocational skills which will assist them in their future endeavours.”
