A Hampshire scout group can now rustle up plenty of hearty meals after our Southern Counties business unit paid for a new kitchen to be fitted in their hut.
After teaming up with suppliers Paula Rosa Manhattan kitchens, we paid for the kitchen to be fitted into the 1st Warsash Sea Scout Group’s hut in the village.
Richard Marrington, one of the Cub Scout Leaders for the group, says: “The facilities in our old kitchen in the hut were very poor – we had no hot water, a poor supply of cold water and hardly any decent equipment. The new kitchen has now been fitted and the transformation is incredible. All of our young people and their parents are very impressed.
“People have walked in and been totally shocked by the difference – we now have two boilers, one providing instant hot water for drinks and another for washing up, as well as a hob, oven, microwave, toaster, kettle, new cutlery, crockery and glasses plus new lighting, tiles and electrical circuits. It’s a massive boost to have clean, hygienic facilities and it also means we can host bigger cooking events, enter competitions and run more events for parents and other scout groups.
Richard adds: “Titchfield Abbey Masonic Lodge also made a substantial donation which meant that we could buy all this new equipment, which is the icing on the cake. The Masons, along with their families and friends, hold a number of fund raising events throughout the year so they can support many good causes and we at 1st Warsash Sea Scouts were one of their lucky recipients.
“We’d really like to thank Taylor Wimpey, Paula Rosa Manhattan kitchens and Titchfield Abbey Masonic Lodge for setting this up – it makes a huge difference for us.”
Fiona Creed, Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey Southern Counties, says: “As a considerate, responsible local housebuilder, we are committed to supporting the communities in which we build and were more than happy to make this donation to the 1st Warsash Sea Scout Group.
“We hope the group have great fun cooking in their new kitchen and enjoy the facilities long into the future.”
