A Scout group in Bursledon, Hampshire, has received a welcome donation from our Southern Counties team to help enhance its facilities.

Our business unit, which is currently building high-quality homes at its Strawberry Fields  development in Locks Heath and Kingfisher Grange development in Bursledon – donated £250 to the 7th Itchen South (Bursledon) Scouts.

The group, which has been active in the community for the past 84 years and has operated from its current premises since 2001, is now looking to improve its facilities at Poland's Wood Estate, Bursledon, with donations from private sector organisations.

“We offer a range of exciting activities for youngsters in the area, such as residential camping experiences and teambuilding exercises, as well as teaching scouting skills, arts and crafts, fire safety, and much more,” explains Derren Avis, Group Scout Leader of the 7th Itchen South Scouts.

“The building we use is in need of updating its facilities, and the donation from Taylor Wimpey will be used to provide new exterior lighting at the premises.

“Not only is this important from a health and safety standpoint, but it will also allow us to hold evening activities outside during the warmer months, rather than being stuck inside the building.

“Donations like this are vital in allowing us to put on events for the groups that use the building, and by improving the facilities, we are hoping to attract even more members. “On behalf of the group, I would like to say a huge thank you to Taylor Wimpey.”

Roz Wells, Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey Southern Counties, says: “As a local housebuilder, we are committed to supporting the communities in which we build our new homes, so we were delighted to make this donation to the 7th Itchen South Scout group.

“We hope that the money will go a long way to improving facilities at the group’s headquarters.”

Two, three and four-bedroom houses are currently available to reserve at Kingfisher Grange, while there’s also a selection of apartments and houses for sale at Strawberry Fields.
