The team at our Southern Counties business unit have voted for a local charity to support with fundraising events throughout 2016.

Smile 4 Wessex Neurological Centre Trust fundraises for Wessex Neurological Centre, which is located at Southampton General Hospital and is one of just 32 units around the UK that provides 24-hour acute/specialist neurological services.

Each year the centre treats around 4,000 in-patients and 14,000 out-patients across the region, providing specialist care for conditions such as brain haemorrhages, severe epilepsy, stroke, brain tumours, traumatic brain/spinal injuries, Alzheimer’s, Motor Neurone Disease and other acute neurological conditions.

The trust has recently launched a £100,000 appeal to raise funds for a VisionSense 3D Endoscopic Neurosurgery system, providing 3D images which will not only make it easier for surgeons to carry out procedures but also make possible some operations which previously could not be safely conducted with 2D endoscopes.

Our staff are planning to raise funds for the charity by making a donation for every reservation placed at Southern Counties launch events throughout the year.

Fiona Creed, Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey Southern Counties, says: “I’m delighted that our staff have chosen such a worthwhile organisation as Smile 4 Wessex as our charity of the year.

“We’re now looking forward to raising money which we hope will really make a difference to this fantastic local cause, which helps so many people across the region.”
