Taylor Wimpey has given £500 to a Scout group in Highworth, Wiltshire, to help with the renovation of their headquarters.
We made the donation to 1st Highworth Scout Group to help fund sound insulation work within the main hall.
David Roblin, chairman of 1st Highworth Scout Group, says: “I’d like to thank Taylor Wimpey for their kind donation, which will help us continue to upgrade the facilities for the youngsters and leaders.
“We built an extension to our hall in 2010 as part of our centenary year and this provided a new meeting room and storage space – which meant we could remove all the storage cupboards from the old hall.
“We now have a large main hall which is much better for activities, but it’s an old building with a very high ceiling and the acoustics are an issue, especially when you have 30 cubs in there! Taylor Wimpey’s donation will help fund the work to reduce the noise, which will make a big difference to our sessions.”
1st Highworth Scout Group has about 130 members, from beavers through to cubs and scouts.
We are building new homes near to the Scout hut at our Heyworth Heights development in Highworth.
Darren McCormack, Regional Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey, says: “As a local housebuilder we are committed to supporting the local communities in which we build our new homes and our donation to 1st Highworth Scout Group is a great example of how we can help local groups and organisations.
“Beavers, cubs and scouts have an important role to play in fostering community spirit and we look forward to continuing our association with the group.”
