Our team at Taylor Wimpey Southern Counties has been busy spreading cheer across West Sussex by providing a generous cash boost to Southbourne Lions Club.

As members of Lions Clubs International, Southbourne Lions Club organises fundraising events throughout the year to support local communities in Southbourne, Bosham, Westbourne, Nutbourne, Funtington and Hambrook.

Our Southern Counties business unit – which is currently building high-quality homes at Hawthorne Meadow in Hambrook – kindly donated just over £800 to the club to fund a brand new pop-up tent to be used for its outdoor fundraising events.

Peter McCallum, Activities Co-ordinator for Southbourne Lions Club, explains: “Taylor Wimpey got in touch with us because they are building in our area and wanted to contribute to the local community.

“The club is absolutely thrilled to receive such a generous donation. We are quite a small, rural Lions club so it is just amazing to have the support of a big company like Taylor Wimpey.”

As well as organising fundraising events, the Southbourne Lions Club also participates in local fetes, fairs and festivities hosted by other community groups in the Bourne area of West Sussex.

“We attend a number of events throughout the year, so having a pop-up tent will make the world of difference to us,” continues Peter. “We will be able to get set up in a few minutes now rather than having to spend ages putting up a large marquee. We can lend it to other charities and organisations for their fundraising events too.

“We really are very grateful to Taylor Wimpey for this donation – the new tent will be very much appreciated not only by us, but also by other local community groups.”

Established in 1993, Southbourne Lions Club is dedicated to helping people across the Bourne area who are in need. The group also donates to national and international projects led by Lions Clubs International.

Fiona Creed, Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey Southern Counties, says: “We wanted to show our support for the local communities in which we build and Southbourne Lions Club is a fantastic organisation which works so hard to help others – that’s why we decided to get in touch to see if we could help them!

“We are pleased to hear that the new pop-up tent will come in handy and we would like to wish the club the very best of luck for future fundraising events.”

There’s a superb range of two, three and four-bedroom homes currently available to reserve at Hawthorne Meadow.
