We’ve showed our support for Stamford Town Cricket Club in Lincolnshire by offering a cash boost to help fund new facilities.
The club, based in Uffington Road, Stamford, is on a mission to raise £25,000 with the aim of purchasing two-lane caged netting training facilities ahead of next season.
Our East Midlands team – which is currently building high-quality new homes at our Stamford Manor and Lamberts Place developments in the town – donated £500 to help the club reach its goal.
Colin Nottage, committee member at Stamford Town Cricket Club, is leading the fundraising drive. He says: “We’ve been fundraising now for about six months – we’ve managed to pull in £10,000 so far, which is brilliant. We’d really like to enhance the youth training programme and improve the level of coaching for our junior members.
“To receive £500 from Taylor Wimpey is just a fantastic level of support. All donations are greatly received but for such a large company to support a project like ours which they are not directly involved with is really generous.”
Stamford Town Cricket Club, established in 1948, currently has five senior teams plus junior sides ranging from U9 through to U17.
“Having Taylor Wimpey’s backing will really raise the club’s profile,” continues Colin. “Hopefully it will encourage other companies and organisations to get behind us and help with our fundraising drive too.
“We’d like to say thank you very much to Taylor Wimpey for their generous donation, we really do appreciate it.”
Lucie Grundy, Sales Manager for Taylor Wimpey East Midlands, says: “We believe it’s really important to invest in the communities in which we build our new homes so we were more than happy to offer our support to Stamford Town Cricket Club.
“It’s great to back grassroots cricket in the local area and we wish the club all the best with their fundraising drive.”
Stamford Manor currently offers a selection of magnificent five-bedroom houses, while Lamberts Place boasts a range of three, four and five-bedroom properties.
