The annual Kew Midsummer Fete once again received a generous donation from us to help cover the costs of running the event.

Our West London team, which is currently building high-quality homes at Emerald Gardens on the outskirts of Kew, donated £4,500 as a Platinum sponsor of this year’s event, which took place on Saturday 18th June.

Mike Glazebrook, chair of Kew Midsummer Fete, says: “Taylor Wimpey have been developing in the local area for quite some time, so it’s nice for them to be involved and play a central part of this community event.

“The fete featured over 120 local stalls, a Victorian funfair which was great for the younger children, a raffle, inflatable play equipment, a tug of war, a dog show, local dance acts, and we also had a tea tent for the first time – so it was great fun for the whole family.

“Taylor Wimpey’s sponsorship money is a major contribution to the cost of the event – it’s organised by a group of 12 local volunteers, so it’s vital to us. The event is very much geared around local businesses and charities so it was great for them to be involved.”

As well as being a Platinum sponsor of the fete, we also hosted a stall at the event offering visitors the chance to win a £100 voucher to the local Kew Grill restaurant by correctly guessing the number of hard hats in a Perspex house.

“We approached a number of organisations and this is the third time Taylor Wimpey have kindly offered to sponsor the fete,” continues Mike. “It’s great to have such a solid supporter and for Taylor Wimpey to reach out and be so involved in the local community.

“It was a great day and almost 10,000 people attended. The event is organised to serve two purposes – it’s a wonderful chance for the local community to have a good time and it also helps to raise money for local charities, and every penny of the £15,000 we’ve raised this year will be given to a good cause.

“Over the seven years the Kew Midsummer Fete has been running we’ve been able to donate around £90,000 to charity, which is fantastic, and we wouldn’t be able to do that without the support of businesses like Taylor Wimpey.”

Emma Jones, Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey West London, says: “We feel it’s extremely important to support the communities in which we build our new homes, and what better way to play our part than by donating to this fantastic event which brings the entire local community together each year.

“We’re extremely proud to get involved with the Kew Midsummer Fete and help this wonderful event take place once again – we’re delighted it was a huge success!”

There’s a superb selection of one and two bedroom apartments currently available at Emerald Gardens.
