SA15 Stage School, based in Llanelli, is preparing to celebrate its 10th anniversary with a production of The Wizard of Oz – and discovered there’s no place like home thanks to a cash boost from our team at Taylor Wimpey South Wales!
Each year SA15 Stage School hosts a different production at Carmartheshire Theatre in Llanelli, with this year’s performance being even bigger and better to celebrate the school’s 10th birthday – and with our Parc y Strade development on the outskirts of town, we provided a donation to help with the costs of the production!
Vicky Pearce, who founded SA15 Stage School when she was 16 years-old, says: “When I set up SA15 Stage School along with some of my friends it started out with just eight children, and has since grown over the years and we now have over 170.
“We normally host two separate annual productions for the different age categories – which range from four to eight, eight to 12, and 12 and above – but this year as part of our 10th anniversary we’re having all of the children involved in the same show.
“With the costumes costing approximately £3,000 and the orchestra around £6,500, Taylor Wimpey’s donation will be used towards the overall costs of the production.”
SA15 Stage School will be hosting nine performances of The Wizard of Oz between Thursday 2nd and Friday 10th March.
“We teach children in the local area who all come from different backgrounds and have different capabilities – including those with any learning difficulties,” continues Vicky.
“Our main purpose is to be accessible to as many local people as possible – which is why we rely on fundraising and donations like Taylor Wimpey’s as we’re then able to keep our costs to a minimum for our members.
“All the money we raise is invested back into the school to help fund the next year’s production. When we first started we were making a loss as we weren’t as well known, so to have support like this now and be able to have money from ticket sales and sponsorships to invest back is fantastic.
“We approached Taylor Wimpey for their support as they’re building in the local area and also supported our production of Children of Eden last year, so it’s amazing to have their support two years in a row and we’re extremely grateful.”
Sara Taylor, Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey South Wales, says: “We’re delighted to offer our support to SA15 Stage School once again and help this fantastic organisation to continue providing its services and entertainment to local people.
“It’s very important to us that we support the communities where we build our new homes, so we were only too pleased to provide this support and we wish everyone taking part in the performances the best of luck!”
SA15 Stage School’s performance of The Wizard of Oz will be taking place between Thursday 2nd and Friday 10th March and tickets can be purchased by visiting www.theatrausirgar.co.uk.
There’s currently a wonderful range of two and three-bedroom homes available at Parc y Strade.
