Taylor Wimpey West Scotland has come to the aid of the local ACCORD hospice to create a much-needed new car park as well as exterior lighting.
ACCORD is a small independent local charity that provides free specialist palliative medical and nursing care to Renfrewshire and parts of East Renfrewshire. Additional car parking spaces, street lighting and road repairs were all urgently required for the immediate area around the hospice building, and the speed and efficiency with which all the work was undertaken meant there was no disruption to patients or visitors.
The charity is forever grateful to Taylor Wimpey for their part in making this happen because it could not have afforded to undertake all the necessary work at this time as Marion Ford, Administrative Director explains, "When the chap from Taylor Wimpey turned up at the Hospice to make the offer I thought we had won the lottery, and I couldn’t believe what he said. But true to his word, within a few days workmen descended on the car park area and the work was quickly done. The only cost to ACCORD was 12 bacon rolls for the Saturday shift workers! In this difficult economic climate ACCORD is very appreciative of the wonderful gift.”
Steven Laurie, Production Director for Taylor Wimpey West Scotland adds: “We’re delighted to have been able to help the ACCORD hospice in Paisley. Our teams are normally deployed to build new homes across the west of Scotland, however we were able to co-ordinate the works required with a few of our contractors and suppliers in order to be able to help this small local charity that just couldn’t have carried out these essential repairs themselves. The new car-park provides a safe and purpose built environment that is now utilised by patients, relatives, volunteers and staff every day.”
