Taylor Wimpey raises 6 500 for children s charity

Date: Friday 20 July 2012

Employees from Taylor Wimpey South West Thames have raised a grand total of £6,500 for a charity that supports children with artificial limbs.

The leading housebuilder, which is building developments of new homes in Surrey, East and West Sussex, Hampshire, Kent and south London, has raised the money for the Reach charity over the past six months.

Reach was nominated by Taylor Wimpey South West Thames buyer Horace Mitchell, whose granddaughter Becky has an artificial limb. Taylor Wimpey officials presented a cheque for £6,500 to Horace and Becky to pass onto Reach on Friday 6th July at the leading housebuilder’s Hightrees development of new homes in Fleet, Hampshire.

The charity was adopted by the region’s Business Unit as the charity to benefit from its annual dinner dance in January.

This event raised over £1,000 and generated such enthusiastic support for Reach that the Commercial Department decided to make it the charity for Taylor Wimpey’s annual Commercial Golf Day, which was held on 9th May at Kingswood Golf Club in Surrey.

Fiona Creed, Regional Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey, says: “We are thrilled to have raised such a magnificent amount for Reach, which is such a worthwhile cause.

“The support among staff for this small charity – which relies solely on donations to support children with artificial limbs and their families – has really been phenomenal.”

Some of the children supported by Reach are missing all or part of an arm, while others have partial hands or malformed or missing fingers or thumb. Because their disabilities and needs can be so varied it can be difficult for them to access expert support.

Reach gives families with children of all ages, adults with limb deficiencies and professionals the opportunity to share experiences, information, support and guidance.

There’s an impressive selection of properties in Fleet currently available to reserve at Hightrees, with three-bedroom homes priced from as little as £389,995, while four-bedroom properties are available from only £424,995.

To find out more, home-hunters should visit the Sales Information Centre, located in Naishes Lane, off Sandy Lane, and open daily from 10.30am to 5.30pm, while the Sales Executive can be contacted on 0845 026 3953.
