Youngsters at a primary school in Walsall will now be able to get up close and personal with nature – thanks to leading housebuilder Taylor Wimpey.

The developer behind the collection of family homes at the Saddlers Brook development in Walsall has donated £250 to nearby Radley’s Primary School to fund a number of bat boxes and bird feeders.

The equipment will be installed at the school and used by members of its Eco Club, an after school group for children interested in the environment.

Headteacher Julie Copley says: “We’re extremely grateful to Taylor Wimpey for the kind donation which has allowed us to introduce bat boxes and bird feeders into the school.

“The members of the Eco Club are delighted as it will allow them to get really close to nature and see the creatures in far more detail than ever before, studying their behaviour and finding out more about them.”

Bat boxes have proven extremely popular in recent years as part of a wider project aimed at protecting their numbers in the UK. The boxes are designed to encourage bats into areas where there are few natural nesting sites.

Elaine Taylor, Regional Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey, says: “As well as building high-quality homes, we are always keen to build strong links with our local communities, and schools play a huge part of that.

“We are delighted to have been able to help Radley’s Primary School and we hope the children in the Eco Club enjoy seeing bat and bird numbers flourish thanks to the new boxes.”

An impressive selection of three bedroom homes are currently available at Saddlers Brook from as little as £149,995.
