Youngsters at a Norfolk primary school are jumping for joy after a donation from Taylor Wimpey East Anglia helped to get their newly-formed cheerleading squad off the ground.
The Queens of Hearts cheerleaders were established at Queens Hill Primary School in Costessey, near Norwich, at the beginning of this school year and get together every Friday after school to practice their routines.
The 20-strong group of eight to 11-year-olds had plenty of enthusiasm but none of the kit they needed to get started in earnest – until 10-year-old member Emily Gregory contacted Taylor Wimpey for help.
Teacher Stacey Border, who leads the Queens of Hearts, says: “We’ve only just started out as a cheerleading squad and although the girls are having a great time, we didn’t have any uniforms or pom-poms.
“We were prepared to organise our own fundraising events to gather the £650 we needed to buy the kit, but we were hoping that some local businesses might chip in as well.
“When Taylor Wimpey responded to Emily’s email by saying they would be happy to donate the full amount, we were absolutely delighted. The girls really look the part now and we can’t thank Taylor Wimpey enough for their fantastic support!”
Caroline Carter, Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey East Anglia, says: “As a considerate, responsible housebuilder we are always keen to show our support for the communities where we build – and that includes reaching out to local schools, charities and clubs who are in need of assistance.
“We were really touched by Emily’s appeal for help and were only too happy to help out by sponsoring the Queens of Hearts cheerleaders. Their new uniforms and pom-poms look great and we wish them every success in the future.”
We are currently building a range of new homes at our Middleton Park development in Costessey.
