Students from a secondary school in Dordon, Warwickshire, have created a snapshot of life in 2017 for future generations to discover at our nearby Saint Leonards development in Polesworth.

The Polesworth School has teamed up with us for a time capsule project, which saw pupils fill a container with memorable items before burying it at our development, off Grendon Road.

The capsule, donated to the school by our Midlands team, was buried at the development on Thursday 29th June, where a small group of pupils and their history teacher witnessed the ceremony alongside Saint Leonards Site Manager Andy Johnson.

The students were asked to provide items to place in the capsule, including school newsletters, photographs, badges, textbooks, a scientific calculator and posters created by Year 7 students commenting on life at The Polesworth School.

It is now stowed away underground for a new generation to discover in many years to come.

Hazel Budge, Operational Manager at The Polesworth School, says: “We are pleased to have been asked by Taylor Wimpey to contribute towards this time capsule project.

“It was an interesting experience for the students to come up with useful ideas for the capsule’s items that would resonate in the future and it was fun seeing our capsule buried at the development.

“By burying the capsule we are exploring the idea of preserving history for future generations. “

Anne Wallace, Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey Midlands, says: “As a considerate and responsible housebuilder, we’re keen to build strong relationships with the communities where we build, so we were really pleased to welcome the pupils and staff from The Polesworth School to our Saint Leonards development.

“The school did a wonderful job filling the capsule with memorable items, and the project is a great way for them to reflect on what life is like today and how the world might have changed by the time their capsule is discovered.”

Saint Leonards currently offers a range of stunning three and four-bedroom homes, which prices starting from £206,995.
