Tour de Hemlington, the third stage of Tour de Yorkshire, was a great success thanks to help from our North Yorkshire team!
The event, which took place between Sunday 1st and Sunday 8th May, received a cash boost in excess of £1,000 from us, and aimed at bringing the whole community together, as well as welcoming others to the area.
Councillors Jeanette Walker and Nicky Walker, who organised Tour de Hemlington alongside Hemlington Linx, says: “This past week of activities has been fantastic, and we would like to thank Taylor Wimpey, Hemlington Linx, Swift-Tees, and the staff at Hemlington Recreation Centre for all of their support in organising everything.
“Overall the event was a great success, and really did bring the whole community together. The bike ride, fun run, and community stroll in particular went very well, and everyone seemed to enjoy the day.”
The free event took place in and around Hemlington Recreation Centre and included a wide selection of activities including organised bike rides, a 5km fun run, a community stroll, a “bike doctor” surgery, and a youth disco.
Debbie Whittingham, Sales and Marketing Director at Taylor Wimpey North Yorkshire, says: “Tour de Hemlington was a great initiative, and it was lovely to see the whole community come together for a week of fun activities.
“All parties put a lot of effort into organising everything in the months leading up to the event, so it’s good to see everybody’s hard work really did pay off.”
Jeanette and Nicky conclude: “We would like to thank Taylor Wimpey for their generosity and support. Hopefully we’ll get to work with the team again in the not-too-distant future.”
Our North Yorkshire team is currently building homes at a number of developments across Middlesbrough, including at Rose Cottage Farm in Stainton, and Acklam Hall on Hall Drive.
