Herts Young Homeless has been awarded £1000 from our North Thames team after being announced as the winner of our  community donation competition. Residents from in and around Borehamwood were invited to vote for a local good cause to receive a helping hand and the Hertfordshire-based charity received the most nominations.

Herts Young Homeless is an independent charity which was established in 1998 and is dedicated to supporting the young homeless of Borehamwood and other areas of Hertfordshire. The charity primarily helps 16 to 24 year olds who are homeless or are threatened with homelessness through free support services as well as emergency accommodation. They also work with children as young as 10 who are dealing with family conflict and adults who have mental ill health and housing issues.

Commenting on the donation from Taylor Wimpey, Helen Elliot, CEO at Herts Young Homeless, said: “We are incredibly grateful for the support of Taylor Wimpey and it was lovely to find out that we had received the most votes from the local community. We are always grateful for any extra funding we receive and Taylor Wimpey’s donation will go towards helping us prevent youth homlessness in Hertfordshire through a variety of services including Education. It will allow us to continue to make a difference to young people and help them build a better future.”

Jack Costello, Sales and Marketing Director at Taylor Wimpey North Thames, said: “At Taylor Wimpey we are proud to support local causes such as Herts Young Homeless who do such valuable work in Hertfordshire. We hope that our donation will help them to continue to provide much needed services for local people. We were delighted with the number of votes we received from the local community throughout this competition and would like to thank everyone who took part.”
