Friends of Gusford, the Parents & Teachers Association (PTA) for Gusford Primary School, has been announced as the winner of our East Anglia team’s community competition.
As part of our month-long campaign, residents across Suffolk were encouraged to put forward nominations for a local group, organisation or individual of their choice. The PTA received the most votes and has been awarded with a £1,000 donation.
Friends of Gusford, situated in Ipswich, helps raise vital funds for Gusford Primary School. The PTA will be putting their winnings towards some brightly coloured friendship benches, made from recycled plastic. These will act as picnic tables for the pupils to enjoy with their friends at break times and lunchtimes when they go back to school.
Claire Claydon, Headteacher at Gusford Primary School, said: “We feel incredibly grateful to receive such a generous donation from Taylor Wimpey. This will help us transform our playground into a friendly social space where our pupils can enjoy their lunch on the new picnic tables once things return to normal. On behalf of everyone at Gusford Primary School, I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who voted for us.”
Caroline Carter, Sales and Marketing Director at Taylor Wimpey East Anglia, said: “We are delighted to announce that Friends of Gusford PTA are the winners of our competition. We hope that the picnic tables make a great addition to the playground and are enjoyed by the pupils for years to come. The campaign has brought to light how many good causes there are in the area and now, more than ever, we want to offer our support and help them with the important work they continue to do.”
