NEWS - TWSW - Cowbridge school visit Mar19

Year two pupils from Ysgol Iolo Morganwg and Y Bont Faen Primary School celebrated World Book Day with a storytelling session from our South Wales team on Friday 8th March. We also donated copies of our children’s book, ‘How we build your home with Millie Mortar and Handy Andy’ to each pupil who attended the storytelling session, which was especially translated into Cymraeg for pupils at the Welsh speaking school, Ysgol Iolo Morganwg.

Sales staff from the regional team visited the schools to present the ‘How we build your home with Millie Mortar and Handy Andy’ which aims to educate children about the house building process. The book provides important messages about how to stay safe around construction sites and housing developments which is vital for young children to understand.

Mrs Sara Rees, Headteacher at Ysgol Iolo Morganwg, which is located near to Taylor Wimpey’s Clare Garden Village development commented: “Whether you’re six or 60, reading plays such a central role throughout all of our lives. We’d like to say thank you to Taylor Wimpey for encouraging our pupils to love reading and for translating the book into Welsh especially for our year 2 pupils who attended the storytelling session with Sian Evans from Taylor Wimpey.”

Mr Geraint Couldrick, Deputy Head Teacher at Y Bont Faen, also located near Taylor Wimpey’s Clare Garden Village development commented: “Reading encourages essential skills that will remain with our pupils for years to come, so the earlier they are introduced to the world of books the better. The children absolutely loved the storytelling session with Joanna Russell from Taylor Wimpey and were really excited to receive their very own copy, so we’d like to thank Taylor Wimpey for their generosity.”

Sara Taylor, Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey South Wales, adds: “We hope that the ‘How we build your home with Millie Mortar and Handy Andy’ book continues to be a favourite with the children at Y Bont Faen Primary School and Ysgol Iolo Morganwg. The book outlines important health and safety messages and how to stay safe around building sites, as well as explaining how the new homes in their area are built. As we’re so proud of our Welsh heritage, we translated the ‘How we build your home with Millie Mortar and Handy Andy’ book so that our Welsh speaking Sales Executives could deliver the story to children passionate about maintaining their native language.”
