We recently celebrated Community Garden Week which aims to shine a light on the amazing range of community and school gardens across the country.
As part of our ongoing commitment to working in partnership with local communities, the East Scotland team has donated £1,000 local garden groups, pledging £500 each to Calderwood Community Garden and Inverkeithing Community Garden. In Inverkeithing, the team also continued our annual support of Inverflora, which is the local volunteer group who plant up the tubs, hanging baskets and planters in the town during the summer.
The support of the community gardens in Inverkeithing and Calderwood mark our ongoing commitment to our local communities as work continues at our popular local development at Spencer Fields in Inverkeithing and Calderwood, Calderwood.
Director of Projects at Stirling Developments, including the Calderwood Community Garden project, said: “We are extremely grateful for the donation that we have received from Taylor Wimpey, and we can’t thank them enough for their support of our community garden.
"At Calderwood, we encourage life outside the home and the Community Garden is a great way to enjoy the outdoors and learn about the food we eat."
Commenting on the support it has received, Ewan McCormick, who heads up the Inverkeithing Community Garden project said: “We are extremely grateful for the latest donation that we have received from Taylor Wimpey, and we can’t thank them enough for their continued support of our community garden.
"The past year has shown the importance of the natural world in supporting wellbeing for everyone. Taylor Wimpey’s generous donation will help us to continue to develop the garden as a welcoming outdoor space for local people and visitors to the town."
Kirsty McGill, Sales and Marketing Director adds: “To celebrate Community Garden Week, which recognises the importance and the positive impact that community gardens can have, we are proud to continue our support of community gardens.
“Community gardens have an incredible ability to bring people together and we know that they provide a great resource for the local community. We’re equally happy to have the opportunity to be part of the Inverflora project and we’re looking forward to seeing our sponsored display burst into colour this year.
“We do more than just build high-quality homes. Being able to work with local community groups and organisations that surround our developments means a great deal to us, and it’s great to know that we are helping to make a difference to the lives of people in local communities.”
