Our team in Exeter is pleased to announce that Homeless in Teignbridge Support (HITS), has recently been selected as our Hele Park development, charity of the year. In recognition of this, we have kindly donated £1,000 to the Devon-based charity who provide a number of services for homeless individuals across Teignbridge.
To further support the charity, we set up our very own food bank at our Hele Park development and is urging local residents and visitors to drop off any unwanted food items. The work that HITS does extends far beyond food collection, it also works with large scale supermarkets, in order to help minimise wastage across every aspect of the community.
Commenting on the donation Melissa Cloke, Senior Sales Manager for Taylor Wimpey Exeter, said: “We are committed to giving something back to the local areas in which we are building and are proud to be supporting HITS as our charity of the year at Hele Park. The services they provide benefit so many people and it was our pleasure to be able to offer a £1,000 donation to help them continue with their excellent work.”
Theresa Copsey, Co-ordinator at Homeless in Teignbridge Support (HITS), commented: “Everyone at HITS was over the moon to discover that we had been elected as Taylor Wimpey Hele Park’s charity of the year. Our work would not be possible without this kind of financial backing, and the £1,000 donation will go a long way towards some of our upcoming projects. The food bank at the development is a great idea too, it’ll help show how simple it is to help those in the community who are less fortunate. On behalf of everyone at HITS, I would like to say a big thank you to Taylor Wimpey for this generous donation.”
