Our West Midlands team is focused on being an inclusive employer of choice and is celebrating diversity by supporting this year’s Birmingham Pride festival. We participated in the Carnival Parade in Birmingham city centre on Saturday 25th May by entering a float costing £1500 to support the LGBTQ community and other related charities.
Members of our West Midlands team attended the event to celebrate the legal rights and achievements of those within the LGBTQ community. We are one of the largest homebuilders in the UK and provide jobs and career progression opportunities for over 5,000 employees and over 11,000 contractors. We embrace diversity and makes all hiring decisions without prejudice towards age, gender, race, disability, sexual orientation or religion or any other protected characteristic.
Commenting on his involvement in the event, Adam Rawlins, Trainee Assistant Site Manager at Taylor Wimpey West Midlands, said: “Pride is a cause that’s particularly important to me and I’ve been supporting the LGBQT community for many years. I’ve been to Birmingham Pride a few times and noticed that there wasn’t anyone there from the housebuilding industry so I approached our Managing Director with the idea. He agreed that we should support the LBGTQ community so we entered a Taylor Wimpey float into the parade. I love working for Taylor Wimpey and I’m proud to work for an employer that supports diversity and inclusion in the workplace.”
Roger Northam, Managing Director at Taylor Wimpey West Midlands, said: “We are proud to be supporting this year’s Birmingham Pride festival which sheds light on such an important cause. We embrace equality and diversity in the workplace and we aim to treat our employees fairly. Our honest and open approach to recruitment and our people is one of the defining factors in Taylor Wimpey’s culture and future workforce.”
