Our East Anglia team has donated £700 to Cambourne’s Volunteering Task Force (VTF), a team which provides extra support for those at risk of hardship during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Set up by a local charity, Cambourne Crescent, Cambourne’s VTF organises and delivers donated food parcels, helps with supermarket shops, collects medical prescriptions and provides much needed companionship by talking with lonely residents over the phone.
In an attempt to help the growing number of people in need, the task force launched a fundraising appeal on JustGiving. After receiving a boost from our donation, the team is now gathering additional supplies to ensure that no one goes without the bare essentials.
Abdellatif Salah, Cambourne Crescent Trustee said: “The task force relies heavily on support from the public, so we’re incredibly grateful to have received this generous donation from Taylor Wimpey. £700 will help us buy fresh food items, pay for prescriptions, groceries and bills for residents who simply can’t afford it. Protective equipment for care workers and our volunteers can also be bought. We’re overwhelmed by the response in Cambourne and feel so lucky to be part of such a supportive community”.
