Staff from our East Anglia team and its contractors have given East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) a helping hand by donating £20,952. The money was raised during a tournament at Stoke by Nayland Golf Club in July and at this year’s Colour Dash Bury St Edmunds race, run by EACH. The funds raised will be used to fund end of life nursing care and support for children and their families.
EACH cares for children and young people with life-threatening conditions across Norfolk and Suffolk, as well as in Cambridgeshire and Essex. The charity offers a range of flexible support both at home and from its three hospices: The Treehouse in Ipswich, Quidenham near Norwich and Milton near Cambridge.
We are committed to supporting the communities in which it develops and decided to use its annual charity golf day to support EACH and the work it does across the region. A cheque was presented to EACH at East Anglia’s regional office in Bury St Edmunds, on 19th October 2018.
Vicky Matthews, EACH Corporate Fundraiser for Suffolk, said: “This is a very generous donation from Taylor Wimpey and we’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who helped organise and took part in these events. Without their continued commitment, we would not be able to provide vital services for the local life-threatened children and their families who we care for in East Anglia. This money from Taylor Wimpey could fund two weeks of end of life nursing care and support for a child and their family.”
EACH currently offers specialist care and support to 374 children and young people, with an additional 419 family members receiving face-to-face therapeutic support. Of those, 129 children and young people and 160 family members are from Norfolk, and 118 children and young people and 140 family members are from Suffolk.
Caroline Carter, Sales and Marketing Director at Taylor Wimpey East Anglia, said: “EACH is a fantastic charity that helps hundreds of children and their families every year. Our work across East Anglia brings us into contact with many families who may one day benefit from the care and compassion shown by the charity’s staff and volunteers. Hopefully this donation will help the charity continue its fantastic care and support.”
Taylor Wimpey East Anglia is a regular supporter of EACH. Earlier this year the housebuilder donated £13,150 which was raised during a charity golf day in 2017.
